(The Mediating Role of Organizational Democracy in the Relationship Between Ethical Leadership and Psychological Empowerment: A Field Study)

Purpose – The aim of the study is to examine the perceptions of ethical leadership of academicians working at Vocational Schools affiliated to Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, on psychological empowerment and organizational democracy, and the mediating role of organizational democracy in the relationship between ethical leadership and psychological empowerment. Design/methodology/approach – The study was carried out on faculty members working in Vocational Schools affiliated with Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University. The survey technique, the primary data collection tool, was used for the study. The data obtained from the questionnaire were subjected to confirmatory factor analysis, reliability, correlation and hierarchical regression analysis in SPSS 24 package program. Findings – As a result of testing the hypotheses developed for the purpose of the study, it was found that ethical leadership positively affected psychological empowerment and organizational democracy. Discussion – Within the scope of the study, it has been observed whether managers exhibit ethical leadership behaviors, whether ethical leadership behaviors affect, and if so, affect democracy and psychological empowerment behaviors in organizations.
