(Investigation of The Relationship between Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Organizational Deviation Behavior and Task Performance among Job Performance Determinants)

Purpose – In this study, the effects of organizational citizenship and organizational deviation behaviors on the performance of public employees were investigated. The main basis of the study is to reveal the relationship between organizational citizenship, organizational deviation behavior and task performance variables. Design/methodology/approach – The population of this research is 59.554 personnel working in the public sector in Kocaeli. It was applied on 209 personnel with the cluster sampling method. The data obtained from the study were tested by using SPSS statistical program, descriptive factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. Findings – Research findings show that organizational citizenship behavior and organizational deviation behaviors in one dimension are negative among them, there is a negative relationship between organizational citizenship and task performance and a positive relationship between organizational deviation and task performance and have a significant effect on each other. In addition, the correlation and regression analysis of the sub-dimensions of the variables have a partial relationship and effect between the variables. Discussion – Although the findings of the research are similar to the results in previous studies, in general, organizational citizenship behavior and organizational deviation behavior may occur due to individual, organizational and situational factors, and the individual is likely to be involved in both types of behavior at the same time.
