Abstract

Purpose – The aim of this study is to determine the influence of the social capital and organizational socializatio of the employees in the hotel business on psychological capital and also to ascertain the mediating role of organizational socialization effect on the psychological capital. Design/methodology/approach – Within the scope of this aim, a model has been proposed to determine the effect of social capital and organizational socialization on psychological capital and to test the mediating role of organizational socialization. The proposed model was tested by regression analysis and the sobel test. Social capital is the independent variable, organizational socialization is the mediator and psychological capital is the dependent variable of the research. Purposive sampling was used and four and five star hotels in Nevşehir were included in the field research. Findings – As a result of the research, it has been determined that the hotel employees' social capital and organizational socialization influence their psychological capital and also organizational socialization has a partial mediating role in the effect of social capital on the psychological capital. Discussion – The results of the study are similar to the limited number of studies conducted before. The content of a beneficial effect of socialization on the immaterial type of relationship contributes to the literature.
