Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to develop a model proposal by determining the relationship between individual variables affecting work processes, such as self-efficacy, perception of job stress, and perceived organizational support. Design/methodology/approach – In order to test the research model, 456 employees were reached using the random sampling method. When the demographic data are examined, 53% of the respondents are male, 66% are married, 67% work in the private sector, and 90% have undergraduate and postgraduate education level. A structured questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. The first part of the questionnaire includes questions about demographic information and the second part includes scales that were previously developed to test the research variables and whose validity and reliability in Turkish were made. The data obtained were analyzed using the related package program. Findings – As a result of the findings obtained in the study, it was determined that the effect of selfefficacy on job stress was negative and significant, and perceived organizational support had a full mediating role in the effect of self-efficacy on job stress. Discussion – In the study, a model proposal was put forward for the variables of self-efficacy, job stress and perceived organizational support. This study, which deals with two variables that affect self-efficacy belief positively and negatively in the working environment in the related literature, is considered to be important for both the literature and practitioners.
