The Mediating Role of Work Engagement in the Relationship Between Time Management and Employee Performance at the Pandemi Period

Purpose – In this research, the mediating effect of work engagement on the relationship between time management and employee performance, which are the key concepts of business success, has been examined specifically for security companies in the service sector, which is the most active in the pandemic. In this context, it has been tried to determine the factors affecting the perception of time management in order to increase the performance of the employees. Design/methodology/approach – The theoretical part of this research was prepared the examination of the studies in the literature on the concepts constituting the research, and the structured questionnaire technique was used in the research part. The sample of the research consists of 384 participants determined by simple random method from the employees of a security company located in Istanbul. The research was completed by developing scientific results and suggestions with the data obtained through the analysis of the survey responses. Findings – As a result of the research conducted with the survey method, it was found that work engagement has a partial mediating role in the positive effect of time management on employee performance. According to the results of the research, it is recommended to take innovative actions in order to increase the work engagement in the service sector and to increase employee performance by making good use of time. Discussion – Today, businesses need to be open to innovations, adapt quickly to changing market conditions and act proactively to make their existence sustainable. Research shows that this is only possible if the company can manage the concepts of time and performance correctly and have employees who can run the same goals, so establishing systems to evaluate the time well and measure the performance has become essential in terms of creating an organizational structure based on efficiency and sustainability. Therefore, especially considering the pandemic environment in which we are located, businesses should establish a management policy that values their employees and also add value to them with innovative approaches. In this context, the effect of work engagement to the relationship between time management and employee performance, which are the key concepts of business success, is examined for security companies who has gret role at the pandemi, at the service sector in this study. It is thought that investigating the factors affecting employee performance will provide significant benefits to the literature, especially in terms of increasing productivity during the pandemic process.
