Examining the Effects of Airline Employees' Perceptions of Organizational Justice on Organizational Citizenship Behaviors

Purpose – The aim of this research is to examine the effect of organizational justice perception of employees in the aviation industry on organizational citizenship behavior. In the research, the perception of organizational justice; It is used as three sub-factors: formal, distributive, and interactional justice. Organizational citizenship behavior: helping, civic virtue and sportsmanship are examined in three sub-factors. Design/methodology/approach - Quantitative research design was used in the study. The population of the research consists of employees in airline companies operating in the aviation sector in Turkey. Since it does not seem possible to reach the entire population in terms of cost, time and opportunity, sampling method was preferred. Research data were collected face-to-face from 278 employees using simple random sampling method between April 2021 and February 2022. The obtained data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. Simple linear regression analysis was used in the analysis process. Findings – According to the results of the research, it was determined that formal, distributive and interactional justice had a positive and significant effect on helping behavior. It is seen that the highest effect is in interactional justice. Discussion – It was determined that formal and interactional justice had a positive and significant effect on civic virtue behavior, but distributive justice had no significant effect. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that interaction justice is higher than formal justice at the effect level. Finally, it was concluded that distributive and interactional justice had a positive and significant effect on sportsmanship behavior. On the other hand, it was determined that formal justice did not have a significant effect. It was concluded that the organizational justice sub-factor, which has the highest effect on sportsmanship behavior, is interactional justice, as in the others. It can be said that the results of the research are important in terms of gaining an idea about the behavior of airline employees.
