Determining The Recruitment Criteria of the Logistics Sector and Some Related Sectors During The Covid 19 Pandemic: A Comparative Study

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine what criteria the logistics industry and some logistics-related sectors, whose importance is increasing daily and whose reputation has increased even more in the Covid-19 process, are looking for in recruitment. Design/Methodology/Approach – The data were collected by typing the keyword "Logistics" in the search section of one of Turkey's most frequently used career sites. The study is a longitudinal study. For this reason, the first data of the study consists of 75 announcements for October 2020, and the second data consists of 163 reports for January 2022. The data were analyzed in the JAMOVI program. 13 criteria were determined in the study, and a comparative evaluation was made. Findings – When the advertisements published towards the end of the first year and the second year of Covid-19 were examined, it was seen that the number of ads related to the sector increased by two times. In addition, it has been determined that experience and knowledge of MS Office programs are essential for the sector. 49% of companies that advertise are looking for a bachelor's degree. While economic and administrative sciences graduates were not sought in the announcements in 2020, it was determined that the graduates of the faculty of economics and administrative sciences also wanted to be employed in the announcements in 2022. Discussion – As a result of the study, it has been observed that the importance of the logistics sector has increased considerably during the Covid-19 process, and determined that there is a corresponding increase in advertisements. People who want to work in the sector must have a computer, foreign language knowledge, and experience. In this case, it has been concluded that the people working in the sector should give importance to practices such as internships before improve their computer and foreign language knowledge during their education.
