Abstract

Purpose – The aim of this study is to examine the inertia status of the personnel working in private sector companies, their causes and organizational consequences. In addition, it is aimed to reveal the effect of time traps on organizational inertia. Design/method/approach – In this study, a model was presented in which the relationship between inertial behavior, which is the dependent variable, and time traps and demographic factors, which are the independent variables, is analyzed. The research population consists of the manufacturing industry employees, and the sample consists of the employees of the generator company operating in Zonguldak. As data collection tools in the research face-to-face survey method was used . The data of the research were collected from 119 worker working in private companies operating in Zonguldak. As data collection tools, the time traps scale and organizational inertia scale was used. The findings obtained from the research were evaluated using SPSS 26.0 and Stata 16.0 programs. Reliability analysis was used to determine the internal consistency of the research scales, and confirmatory factor analysis was used to ensure structural validity. In the study, correlation analysis was used to determine the direction and severity of the relationship between dependent and independent variables, multiple regression analysis was applied to examine the relationship between variables, and parametric analyzes were used to determine the differences. Results – It was showed that the effect of personal and workplace-based time traps on the organizational inertia behavior is high. Discussion – Research findings show that there is a positive relationship between time traps and organizational inertia. In addition, it is thought that the research will contribute to the literature of time traps on organizational inertia.
