Abstract

Purpose – - Ensuring the commitment of employees to their workplaces and improving their work performance is a very important phenomenon for all organizations. Managing the organizational culture, which shapes the way people behave and do things in the organization and can be expressed as a pattern of values, norms, beliefs, attitudes and assumptions in the enterprise, is gaining more and more attention as a necessary part of the health system reform. In order to achieve the desired organizational commitment in health institutions and improve organizational performance, it is necessary to make procedural changes, as well as a major cultural transformation of the organization. The study aims to understand whether the organizational culture, which forms the basis of the behavior of employees in health institutions and, in particular, private health institutions, and the way work is done, has a mediating role in the relationship between organizational commitment and organizational performance. Design/methodology/approach – Quantitative research method has been adopted in this research. In the data collection process, the survey technique is a descriptive and relational research used. All employees at the private Tatvan Can Hospital located in Tatvan district of Bitlis province make up the research universe During the period when the research was conducted, there were a total of 180 staff members, including 70 clinicians and 110 administrative staff in the relevant hospital. As data collection tools, scales aimed at measuring organizational culture, organizational commitment and organizational performance were applied using the questionnaire technique. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software. Findings – As a result of the research, it was concluded that there are statistically significant relationships between organizational commitment and organizational culture, between organizational culture and organizational performance, and finally between organizational performance and organizational commitment. In addition, it was concluded that organizational culture is more effective on employee performance than organizational commitment. Discussion – According to the results obtained, it can be said that organizational culture has a mediating role between organizational commitment and organizational performance.
