Abstract

Purpose – The main purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of personal job adjustments on psychological ownership within the scope of public security, and whether resonant leadership behaviors have a mediating role in this effect. Design/methodology/approach – The universe of the research consists of 335 employees working actively in the private security sector in the center of Iğdır province. In order to obtain the data, the online survey method via Google From was used from 194 employees selected by the convenience sampling method. In order to test the hypotheses formed in line with the purpose of the research, path and mediation analyzes were used. In the study, t-test and ANOVA analyzes were performed to determine the difference between demographic variables and the variables subject to the study. Findigs – As a result of the path and mediation analyzes, it was determined that person-job fit affected psychological ownership, person-job fit affected resonant leadership and resonant leadership positively affected psychological ownership, and resonant leadership had a partial mediating role in the effect of person-job fit on psychological ownership. In addition, as a result of the difference analysis, it was seen that male private security workers were more sensitive to the resonant behaviors of the managers compared to the female private security workers and the chiefs to the personnel. Discussion – As the level of compliance of the employees with their jobs increases, they will be more productive and will enable the organizational goals to be achieved more easily. It can be said that as the organizational goals and objectives are achieved, employees will feel more psychological ownership towards their organizations and their jobs, and in this psychological ownership, the resonant leader, who uses their emotional intelligence for the performance of the organization and tries to create the appropriate environment that will enable the employees to do their best, can play an important role in this process.
