Bibliometric Analysis of Studies on Green Finance

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the academic studies on green finance, determine the situation on the subject and at the same time visually map the data obtained. Design/methodology/approach –Analysis was carried out in the VOSviewer software program in the light of the data obtained from the Web of Science database. A search was made with the keyword “green finance” by performing various inclusion and exclusion procedures. 957 studies on the concept of "green finance" between 1999 and the first half of 2023 were obtained from the Web of Science database and analyzed. Findings – It was determined that the most studies on the concept of "green finance" were conducted in the first 6 months of 2023, and in some years there were no publications during the analysis period. The most cited article within the analysis period was published by Zhang, DY et al. in 2021. The countries with the most citations were China (with 1024 citations), India (with 98 citations) and America (with 38 citations). Discussion – The industrial developments that humanity has made in the last century to increase its social, cultural and economic well-being have also brought about many problems that could destroy its future, such as pollution, global warming, climate change, reduction of biodiversity, etc. However, unfortunately, it is not possible to say that all countries in the world are working to the same extent to reduce and then eliminate this problem. It is of great importance for the future of the world that scientists and political decision makers work together to solve the problem.
