Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine whether organizational pride has a mediating role in the effect of career satisfaction on occupational identification.
Design/methodology/approach – The research was carried out with the participation of 408 volunteers from the education sector in Şanlıurfa province. Data were collected through online and face-to-face survey methods and obtained using the snowball sampling method. SPSS 26.0 and Mplus 8 programs were used in the analysis process. In the first step, the data set was examined with preliminary analyses and made suitable for analysis. Then, the data was evaluated with CFA, correlation and bootstrap regression analyses.
Results – The analysis results revealed that career satisfaction predicted both occupational identification and organizational pride; and that organizational pride predicted occupational identification statistically significantly and positively. However, it was determined that organizational pride played a partial mediating role in the effect of career satisfaction on occupational identification.
Discussion – The findings of this study suggest that increasing educators' career satisfaction and organizational pride may contribute to a stronger commitment to their profession. This may have important consequences for students. An educator who is committed to their career and proud of their institution is likely to exhibit a more engaged, motivated, and innovative approach in the classroom environment. This may contribute to students receiving more support, becoming more eager to learn, and increasing their academic achievement. Therefore, it can be said that an educator with a high level of satisfaction may enable the development of more equipped, self-confident, and successful individuals.
