Abstract

Purpose – People who has a creativity differ with their psychological structures, their self confidence and the way of doing business. In some cases, differentiation can conflict with the classical management approach, and even that conflict can destroy the creative personality. Sometimes managers have to indicate different pattens of management and psychological behaviours in order to preserve and improve creativity. In this context, the study firstly aims to analyseithe relationship between self- efficacy and creativity and then mediating role of psychological empowernment in this relation in order to contribute to the solution of the problem in the literature to guıde the tourism managers and to ensure the creation and development of the creative characteristics of the empliyees. Design/methodology/approach – This survey was conducted by means of a questiamaire registered to the ministry of tourism and according to the statistics of the employees in four or five stars hotels operating in Istanbul. Obtained from social media or printed out, three hundred and eight questionnaires are approved for evalation. “T-Testi” and “ Annova test” were used for revealing the difference between self efficacy , psychological empowernmentand creavivity perception with individual characteristics of the participants. In addition to that “Tukey Test” was used for determining the difference between the groups via the datas from SPSS program. Finding – According to the results of the “Hierorchical Regression Analysis” conducted to determine the mediating role of psychological empowernment between self- efficacy and creativity, the model can firmed the mediating role of psycholgical empowernment. Discussion – The tourism sector is faced with the innovations of communication and transportation Technologies that are increasing every passing year. Innovations that have emerged today have made the sector evolve from traditional one to technological one. Moving into the technological tourism and carrying on development can only be possible with creative hurman resources. In this context, strenghening the psychological strenght of the employees of the sector, will contribute to the development of their creativity.
