(The Relationship Between Entrepreneurial Personality Characteristics and Career Plans of University Students Undergoing KOSGEB Applied Entrepreneurship Training: The Case of AKU)

Purpose – The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of entrepreneurial personality traits on career preferences of university students in Applied Entrepreneurship Education. Design/methodology/approach – The population of the study consisted of third and fourth grade students studying at Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Technology and Tourism Faculty. The sample of the study consists of 595 students who received Applied Entrepreneurship Training and who returned to the survey from this group. In order to analyze the obtained data and determine the reliability of the questionnaire, SPSS statistical package program was used for social sciences. Reliability Analysis for measuring the reliability of the questionnaires through SPSS statistical package program, Normality Test for measuring whether the responses to the questionnaire are distributed normally, Factor Analysis for analyzing the value of the factor loadings of the questionnaire expressions and Multiple Regression Analysis, Independent Sample T-Test and Correlation Analysis were used for testing hypotheses. Findings - It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between entrepreneurial personality traits and career values of the students. It was found that the factor that has the most effect on entrepreneurial personality traits is pure challenge and the entrepreneurial personality trait that has the most impact on career values is the need for success. It was determined that there is a positive linear relationship between entrepreneurship education and career values, entrepreneur personality traits and entrepreneurship tendency. Discussion – The universe of the research consists of the third and fourth grade students who take Applied Entrepreneurship Course at Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Technology Faculty and Tourism Faculty. The limitation of this study is that the user research was conducted only with the students who received Applied Entrepreneurship Education in certain faculties. For this reason, the development of entrepreneurial personality traits and career values of the students who received and without entrepreneurship education could not be compared. In order to examine the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial personality traits and career values in more detail, studies can be conducted on a sample group of students with and without entrepreneurship training. As a result, the findings obtained by evaluating the data collected in the literature and user research revealed that there are significant relationships between entrepreneurial personality traits, career values and entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship tendency and career choice.
