Abstract

Purpose – In the study, it was aimed to adapt the "Employee Accountability" scale developed by Han and Perry (2020) into Turkish and to introduce it to Turkish literature by conducting a validity and reliability study. Design/methodology/approach – In line with the research purposes, a questionnaire was applied to public employees working in Kocaeli province (N = 283). The data were analyzed using AMOS-18 and SPSS-24 software. The linguistic and construct validity were tested to determine the validity of the scale in which the adaptation study was conducted. To determine its reliability, Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient, test-retest, and item-total correlation analyzes were performed. Findings – The findings obtained as a result of the analysis show that The five-factor structure of the "Employee Accountability" scale, which was adapted and translated, in accordance with its original form, has structural validity and is a reliable measurement tool. Discussion – In the study, it was determined that the Employee Accountability Scale developed by Han and Perry (2020) for public employees is valid and reliable in Turkish. It is evaluated that the study, which we consider to be a source for the studies on employee accountability in public employees, will contribute to the Turkish literature.
