The Effect of Strategic Alignment between Supply Chain and Information Systems on Supply Chain Performance

Purpose – This research aims to examine the effect of strategic alignment between supply chain and information systems on supply chain performance. Design/methodology/approach – In this study, the relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The universe of the research covers the one thousand companies with the highest export determined by the Turkish Exporters Assembly. The data were collected by interviewing the managers of the companies with the help of a survey. It was aimed to reach all companies, but usable data was obtained from 268 companies. The data was analyzed with SPSS and AMOS programs. Findings – Strategic alignment between supply chain and information systems is positively related to supply chain performance. Discussion – Aligning a lean supply chain strategy with an efficiency-oriented information systems strategy can improve supply chain performance. In addition, aligning a hybrid supply chain strategy with a comprehensive information systems strategy can also improve supply chain performance.
