Abstract

Purpose - With the development of digital technology, a new leadership style, e-leadership, has begun to be implemented in accordance with technology in institutions. Especially with Covid-19, which has become a global epidemic in recent years, this leadership style has become more common. In the light of these facts, within the scope of the study, the effects of the e-leadership attitudes of the managers during the Covid-19 process on the organizational communication perceptions of the employees and the moderator roles of the gender and the working sector were analyzed Design/methodology/approach - For this purpose, 397 white-collar employees in the private and public sector in Istanbul were made to fill out a questionnaire and the data were analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis. Findings - Results indicate that; select traits and skills, intention to use ICTs (Information and communication Technologies), facilitating conditions and ICT use positively affect organizational communication. Besides, gender plays a moderating role between the relationships select traits and skills-organizational communication and facilitating conditions-organizational communication; while sector plays a moderating role between the relationships select traits and skills-organizational communication and ICT use-organizational communication. Discussion - In this study, in which the effect of e-leadership attitude on organizational communication was examined, it was seen that using communication technologies had a positive effect on organizational communication. When the literature is examined, it is seen that there is little research on the relationship between these two concepts. In this respect, it is thought that the research of these two concepts will bring useful results and can guide the researches to be done on this subject.
