Abstract

Purpose – To examine the research trends of scientific publications dealing with in Quality management systems. This study is an important resource to present current issues of Quality management systems in total Quality management field and to examine research trends. Design/methodology/approach - In this context, a bibliometric analysis of English articles in the Web of Science database between years of 1984-2020 was performed using the R programming language. In the bibliometric analysis, Biblioshiny (web interface of R program) was used. Publications were categorized their types and trends over the years were examined, it has been evaluated according to their countries', institutions', number of citations’ and authors'. Findings – The main magazine of the quality management field is “Total Quality Management And Business Excellence”. The most referenced study is Terziovski, Samson, and Dow's "The Business Value Of Quality Management Systems Certification Evidence from Australia and New Zealand" in the quality management field. When the interaction between the countries and the publications of the countries are examined, it is seen that the leading country of Quality management field is the USA. Discussion – it is possible to say that the majority of the studies on Quality management systems, especially after 2016, are on management. In addition, it can be said that studies on the effects of Quality management systems, culture and process are still up to date.
