Abstract

Purpose – This article aims to reveal how work-family and family-work conflict affect job satisfaction by examining the relationship between work-family life conflict and job satisfaction through health tourism employees Design/methodology/approach – The study has a correlational research design. The sample of the study consists of 294 employees working within the scope of health tourism. Data were collected using the "Work-family life conflict scale" and "Job satisfaction scale". Reliability, correlation, simple and multiple regression analyses were performed on the data. Findings – In the study, it was concluded that work-family life conflict negatively affects the level of job satisfaction. Among the dimensions of work-family life conflict, work-family conflict dimension is a significant determinant of job satisfaction. Family-work conflict dimension has no significant effect on job satisfaction. Extrinsic and intrinsic satisfaction, which are sub-dimensions of job satisfaction, are also negatively affected by the work-family conflict dimension. Family-work conflict is not effective on intrinsic and extrinsic satisfaction dimensions. Discussion – In the study, it was observed that the relationship between work-family conflict dimension and extrinsic satisfaction came to the forefront, and the effect of work-family conflict on extrinsic satisfaction was especially noteworthy in the effect of work-family conflict on job satisfaction. The conflict levels of individuals with their families due to work negatively affect their extrinsic satisfaction levels. The study provides a sectoral insight to understand the link between work-family conflict and job satisfaction of health tourism employees.
