Abstract

Purpose – In this study, it is aimed to investigate the extent to which strategic management tools are used and how satisfaction and effectiveness affect the Business DNA by applying Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), which has an important place as a prediction model in advanced artificial intelligence studies due to the increasing processing and computing power with the developing technology. Design/methodology/approach –In this study, in which quantitative research methods are used, the data obtained as a result of the survey application will be analyzed through the IBM SPSS V21.0 (StatisticalPackage for Social Sciences) package program. Parametric tests include Independent Group T test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA); Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis H test will be applied. In order to predict the impact of strategic management tools on business DNA, artificial neural networks, one of the artificial intelligence techniques, will be applied. In the study, Çağatay (2019), who has worked in the field of strategic management, "Strategic management tools usage and satisfaction scale" and "Need and priority scale in the selection of strategic management tools" developed by making use of the scale used by Demir (2015) and a part of this scale and 25 management tools put forward by Darrell Rigby and Barbara Bilodeau were used. The research was carried out in private hospitals in Istanbul. Within the scope of the research, data were obtained from managers (senior and middle level) working in private hospitals by using simple sampling method. After the collected scales were subjected to a series of elimination, 402 questionnaires were analyzed. Results – Of the private hospitals in Istanbul, 60 private hospitals supported the study and analysis was made over 402 samples. While 272 (67.7%) of the sample was used as a training set, 130 (32.3%) were used as a test set. 75.4% of them were classified correctly in the training set and 63.1% of them were classified correctly in the test set. According to the results of the research, "Knowledge of the outsourcing strategic management tool" with 100% standardized importance from strategic management tools, followed by "Knowledge about corporate governance and customer relationship management strategic management tool" with 92.2%, "Level of satisfaction with the downsizing strategic management tool" with 83.8%, "Level of satisfaction with the outsourcing strategic management tool" with 82.1%, "Scenario and emergency planning satisfaction level" with 79.7%, "Satisfaction level with mission and vision strategic management tool" with 76.6% and "Satisfaction level with business capabilities strategic management tool" with 71.9% were found to be effective in the organizational DNA. Discussion – Since the findings of the study were not discussed before, they were compared with similar related studies and discussed within the literature, and it was seen that some compatible results emerged. In line with the findings of the research, it was suggested that managers and decision-makers should give importance to the integration of artificial neural networks and strategic management tools due to the potential that affects the organizational DNA.
