Purpose – This study aims to examine the implementation of building completion insurance in Türkiye, specifically in Ankara, by identifying the main issues encountered and developing potential solutions. The research addresses the role of construction companies in the insurance process, their level of awareness, and the challenges they face in practice.
Design/methodology/approach – In the study, data were collected through an online survey administered to 56 construction company employees operating in Ankara. The survey was designed to measure the participants' awareness levels of building completion insurance and their experiences. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS software. During the analysis process, statistical methods such as chi-square tests and proportional distributions were used to evaluate the results.
Results – The results revealed a high level of information deficiency regarding building completion insurance and highlighted that this type of insurance offers significant security for both companies and consumers. Accordingly, the study concluded that promotional activities related to this insurance product should be intensified, and construction companies should be encouraged to participate more actively in the insurance system.
Discussion – The research findings indicate that the level of knowledge about building completion insurance is independent of demographic factors such as gender, age, education level, and sector. This finding suggests that the awareness level of insurance is similar across all groups, and the lack of information is a widespread issue across sectors. The results highlight the need for broader and more inclusive informational activities to increase the awareness of building completion insurance. Such initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to addressing knowledge gaps and increasing the utilization rates of this insurance product.
