Purpose – The increasing volume of data and the need for rapid decision-making in healthcare institutions have made business intelligence applications an important strategic management tool. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between business intelligence perceptions and learning organization dynamics among employees working in the central and provincial units of the Ministry of Health who actively use business intelligence applications, and to determine whether these perceptions differ according to demographic variables.
Design/methodology/approach – The study was conducted using a quantitative research approach within the scope of an explanatory research design to examine the relationship between business intelligence applications and learning organization dynamics. Data were collected through an online survey, and the data obtained from a total of 302 employees were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to test the validity of the scales, and reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficients. Structural equation modeling was employed to test the relationships between the variables. In addition, independent samples t-tests and one-way analysis of variance were performed to determine mean differences according to demographic variables.
Findings – The analysis results indicated that business intelligence applications have a positive and significant relationship with learning organization dynamics (β = 0.688; p < 0.001). In addition, perceptions of business intelligence were found to decrease with increasing age and increase with higher levels of education. It was also determined that senior managers reported higher levels of business intelligence perceptions compared to other positions. In contrast, perceptions regarding learning organization dynamics did not differ significantly across certain demographic variables.
Discussion – The findings indicate that business intelligence applications function as an important managerial tool supporting organizational learning processes in healthcare institutions. By examining the relationship between business intelligence applications and learning organization dynamics through structural equation modeling within the context of healthcare institutions, this study provides empirical evidence for a relationship that has been addressed only to a limited extent in the literature. Future studies conducted across different public institutions and private healthcare organizations may enhance the generalizability of the findings and contribute more comprehensively to the literature.
