(The Influence of the Justice Perceptions and Personal Traits of Health Employees on Organizational Trust)

Purpose – The findings of any research in the field of health in terms of organization and administration is of great importance as the health sector is essential for people and it consumes a great portion of a country’s budget because it requires advanced technological investment. This article has two aims: The primary aim is to determine the influence of the justice perceptions and personal traits of health employees on their organizational trust. The secondary aim is to examine whether the demographic characteristics of health employees is significant for justice, trust and personal traits. Design/methodology/approach – The universe of the study consists of physicians, nurses, health employees apart from physicians, administrative staff, and the other employees hired as service procurement at Istanbul Medeniyet University Goztepe Training and Research Hospital. The sample of the study is 558 health employees. The data regarding the voluntary participants were obtained through face-to-face questionnaires. The statistical analyses were made using SPSS 23 program. After verifying that the data set was normally distributed, the data obtained were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, t test, the ANOVA analysis, and regression analysis. Findings – The findings of the study reveals that the justice perceptions of health employees are significant for trust, that those with high levels of agreeableness increase cognitive trust, and that those with high extraversion and low neuroticism increase emotional trust. Besides, it was found that the demographic characteristics of the participants (age, education, working time and position) were significant for trust, justice, and personal traits. Discussion – Labor force is an important production factor for increasing the quality of health services. This very study, which determined that the justice perceptions and personal traits of health employees were significant for the organizational trust, is compatible with the research in the literature. Therefore; the administrators should be aware of the regulations that could create the organizational justice in order to get the ideal benefit from the employees. In addition, it is beneficial to determine the personal traits of the employees to establish the trust levels of employees.
