(The Effect of Work-Family Conflict on Job Satisfaction and Life Satisfaction: A Research on IT Sector Employees)

Purpose – In this study, the effects of work-family and family-work conflicts experienced by IT professionals on job satisfaction and life satisfaction were examined. Design/methodology/approach – The study was carried out with 606 participants working as IT professionals in public and private institutions in Ankara. Descriptive analysis (percentage and frequency analysis), correlation analysis, t-test and ANOVA test were performed on the data. Findings – According to the results of the research, a significant and negative relationship was found between work-family conflict and job satisfaction, and between work-family conflict and life satisfaction. While a significant and negative relationship was found between family-work conflict and job satisfaction, no significant effect of family-work conflict on life satisfaction was detected. Discussion – Although it is experienced at a low level, both work-family and family-work conflict reduce the job satisfaction level of IT professionals. Life satisfaction, on the other hand, is not affected by family conflicts with possible family support.
