Abstract

Purpose – This research focuses on determining the relationship between the individual values of employees in hotel businesses and their organizational commitment. Design/methodology/approach – This research is in the type of descriptive research, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The universe of the research consists of local employees working in a chain hotel business that has been operating in Turkey since 1995 and has 9 businesses. The research sample consists of 215 local employees working in this chain hotel business. Questionnaire method was used as data collection tool in the research. In the analysis of the data, arithmetic mean, frequency, correlation and canonical correlation analyzes were used. Findings – According to the results obtained from the research, it was revealed that there is a significant but low relationship between individual values and organizational commitment. In addition, it has been determined that the variable that most affects organizational commitment in the set of individual values is conservation. In the organizational commitment set, on the other hand, continuance commitment stands out as the variable that most affects individual values. Discussion – This research contributes to hotel managers in terms of understanding the individual values of the employees and the values that predict organizational commitment. In addition, it is thought that it will contribute to the literature in terms of examining the relationship between individual values and organizational commitment.
