Bibliometric Review of The Concept of Strategic Management: Thesis Studies in the Period 2010-2020

Purpose - This study aims to carry out a bibliometric analysis of master's and doctoral theses published by the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education, in different departments, with the title "Strategic Management". For this purpose, in the study, firstly, a conceptual framework regarding strategy, management and strategic management issues was created and then the analysis was started. Design/methodology/approach-As a working method, the data obtained by compiling the data in the study pool was recorded using the MS Excel program. The recorded data were subjected to bibliometric analysis in terms of various variables using the MS Excel program. Finding – With the keyword "Strategic Management", and the distribution of the studies according to years and levels, consultant titles and methods were examined. The universities and departments where the studies were published were also examined. As a result of the examinations, the studies carried out under the title of "Strategic Management" were concentrated the most in 2019, Business and Business Management Departments came to the fore as departments, and thesis advisors mostly used "Prof." in their master's and doctoral theses. Dr. It was revealed that they had the title and that the methods of the thesis studies were mostly preferred in both thesis groups. Discussion – Based on the findings, the study shows that the literature in the field of strategic management has expanded and become widespread over time. Especially in recent times, the subject of study has become a trend, which indicates the importance of this field. It was determined that similar studies were conducted with qualitative methods. However, it is thought that greater use of qualitative approaches in the studies will contribute to a deeper understanding of strategic management theory.
