Abstract

As in every field of life, social media networks have been widely used in human resources applications. Recruitment processes have also been influenced by this trend. In this study, it is discussed whether the tendency of social media use in the personnel sourcing and selection processes differs in terms of the generations of people involved in recruitment activities. The research sample is 187 Generation X and Generation Y professionals involved in recruitment processes of the private sector companies operating in Turkey. As there was no reference scale developed in this area, a survey form created by the researcher is used for this research. It is concluded that Gen Y professionals are more inclined to engage in social media networks in sourcing processes than Gen X professionals, but also that there is no significant difference between the GenY and Gen X regarding their tendency to engage in social media networks in selection processes.
