The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the perceptions of taskoriented and people-oriented leadership styles of Generation X and Y, claimed to have different characteristics, attitudes and behaviors, and their perceptions of creative behavior differed with respect to demographic variables. The research also examined the effects of their leadership styles on creative behavior. The present study was conducted on 195 white-collar and blue-collar employees of four firms operating in the manufacturing sector in Kocaeli province. The results of the study showed that Generation X and Y employees had different perceptions regarding leadership styles and creative behavior in terms of demographic characteristics and that leadership styles had important effects on creative behavior.
