Abstract

Purpose – This study was carried out with the aim to determine the relationship between organizational nepotism and organizational cynicism perceptions of employees in 3, 4 and 5 star hotel enterprises operating in Nevşehir. Design/methodology/approach – Within the scope of the study, field research was conducted and data were collected by questionnaire technique. The questionnaire included two scales: organizational nepotism and organizational cynicism. The sample of the study consists of 236 employees working in hotels. On the data obtained from the research, by using appropriate statistical analysis programs in computer environment; frequency distribution, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and correlation analysis were performed. Findings – As a result of the correlation analysis, a moderate positive correlation was found between employees' perceptions of organizational nepotism and organizational cynicism. Discussion – - According to the results of the findings, there is a directly proportional relationship between organizational nepotism and organizational cynicism. Therefore, as the organizational nepotism perception levels of the employees working in the hotel enterprises in Nevşehir increase, their perception levels of organizational cynicism also increase. On the other hand, employees think that the reference of the people in the management team is relatively important in recruitment. It was also found that employees think that communication is important in conducting the tasks in the institution.
