Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of transformational leadership practices on employee performance. Design/methodology/approach – Deduction in the theoretical part of this study and the relational survey method, one of the quantitative research methods, in the application part. The data of the study were obtained by using the survey method. In the first part of the questionnaire, demographic questions prepared by the researcher, "Transformational Leadership Scale" in the second part and "Employee Performance Scale" in the third part were included. The universe of the research was a questionnaire applied to a total of 396 people working in the companies that manufacture chemicals and chemical products in Ankara Middle East Industry and Trade Center (OSTİM). With the data obtained from the Questionnaires used within the scope of the research; reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, data analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed. Findings – As a result of the analyzes made for this study; It has been determined that intellectual stimulation has a positive effect on honesty and creating a behavioral model has a positive effect on altruism. In contrast, setting a vision on altruism; It has been determined that acceptance of group goals has a negative effect on empowerment - altruism, and having high performance expectation has a negative effect on altruism. Discussion – Transformational leadership includes attitudes towards encouraging employees to innovate, fulfilling their duties successfully, sharing business goals by all employees, creating an environment of trust, reflecting that employees are valued and providing employee support. On the other hand, businesses that can adapt their employees to the rapidly changing environment can increase customer satisfaction, continuously improve employee performance, improve product-service quality, increase productivity, succeed in competition and survive. Therefore, it is planned to conduct this research with the idea that scientific studies aimed at improving such university-industry cooperation can make positive contributions to increasing the productivity of enterprises, improving the performance of employees, ensuring the continuity of enterprises in the competitive environment, increasing the quality of goods and services, increasing the competitiveness of enterprises and providing significant benefits to the development of the country.
