Abstract

The aim of this present study is investigation of Turkish banking sector efficiency. The research is conducted on private, public and foreign capital deposit banks. Under the assumptions of BCC (variable return to scale) and CCR (constant return to scale), Data Envelopment Analysis results are evaluated between the years of 2008 to 2016. Deposit, interest expense and numbers of employee as an input and loan and interest income as an output were used in the analyses. According to results of DEA, Deutsche Bank and Arap Türk Bankası reached fully efficient point more than other banks under the assumption of CCR. Furthermore, under the assumption of BCC, 2016 lambda values are found and inputs and outputs are recalculated for chosen banks in order to make them efficient.
