Purpose – This study aims to present a general framework for scientific research related to inter-organizational networks. It also seeks to pinpoint the current status of research that addresses both inter-organizational networks and tourism topics together. Design/methodology/approach – The present research conducted a bibliometric analysis using performance analysis and science mapping techniques. The study gathered data from the WoSCC (Web of Science Core Collection) and utilized the VOSviewer software tool for analysis. Findings – The research revealed the changing trend in the number of studies conducted on inter-organizational networks over the years. It identified the writers who contributed most to the field and the keywords frequently appearing in these studies. Furthermore, the study evaluated research that explores both inter-organizational networks and tourism topics together against various bibliometric measures. Discussion – The research found an upward trend in studies focusing on inter-organizational networks. However, it was also observed that many aspects of the subject have remained unexplored or addressed only in a few studies. The research suggests that specifically increasing the number of studies examining inter-organizational networks together with tourism could significantly clarify the understanding of tourism phenomena. Additionally, the study highlights that increasing the amount of research from Turkey will be beneficial, which currently makes a limited contribution to the international literature on the subject.
